We offer Try Dives to those interested in diving but have never been underwater before. A Try Dive is carried out in the swimming pool at Places Leisure, starting in the shallow end and progressing at your own pace, with one of our qualified BSAC instructors.
It is an opportunity to “try before you buy”. You can experience being underwater using SCUBA equipment in a secure environment, meet some of our club members, and decide if UK club diving is for you!
Try dives are £30, which is deducted from your membership fees if you decide to join us. For more information, drop us an email here or follow the link below.
Book a Try DiveYour Instructor will meet you in the reception area at Places Leisure, and will brief you on what will happen during the Try Dive. There are always other members around on a club night, so feel free to have a chat before your dive. Before your Try Dive you will be asked to read and complete a medical form. Your Instructor will run you through a few basic safety procedures along with a brief explanation of your SCUBA equipment. Once you are comfortable and happy, you can try breathing and swimming underwater for the first time!
Just your normal swimming gear plus a t-shirt – this helps make wearing the dive equipment more comfortable for most people.
Our minimum age limit for Try Dives is 12 yrs, however we have a minimum age limit of 18 yrs for club membership (or 16 yrs if an adult family member is an existing club member). Please note that before your Try Dive you will be asked to complete a Try Dive medical and responsibility declaration form before your session.
Of course! If you have friends or family who you would like to bring along, there is plenty of space in the viewing area next to the pool for them to watch and share in your new SCUBA experience!
