Halloween Fright Dive Under Swanage Pier – What monsters lurk beneath?

James, Steve & Andrew met down at Swanage to do a spooky night dive. The pier is famously haunted by the old ice cream seller who tragically lost her life one hot summer’s day when she slipped in a pool of melted Raspberry Ripple (or possibly Choc Chip). Unable to call for help she was slowly licked to death by some ravenous stray cats who were attracted by the sticky, sweet confectionary strewn across the walkway. As legend goes, when the wind blows the wrong way (as it often does at Swanage) you can hear the lapping – not of the sea – but of the cats and a faint voice crying out “Do you want a flake with that?”
No ghosts were seen but as well as the usual crabs, prawns and fish an octopus was spotted. Luckily, it stayed around long enough to for Steve to get video evidence of the ‘monster’. Water temperatures were an unseasonal 15degC. A great night out rounded off with a quick pint at the Greyhound on the way home!
